The History of this event is amazing! This year, all events are free of charge to celebrate an extraordinary three decades of fun!
Our Maryland Crab Drop was the brainchild and creation of Rich and Suzanne Hood, first dropped on December 31, 2005. There are two Drops: at 9pm – “Midnight in the Mid-Atlantic” and the traditional one at midnight.
Festivities included for these countdowns on the street are bagpiper Randy Welch and fire juggling by Cascading Carlos (winner of two Guinness World Records!). A fabulous lineup of visiting regional performers this year includes: Happenstance Theater, OCEAN Celtic Quartet, Tinsmith, Slim Harrison and Boston Bachert. A variety of local performers appearing: Mid Shore Dance Academy, Improv Easton, the Julie Parsons Trio (with two very special guests), Allegra! Chorus, and the Paddy-O Players. Mike Elzey’s Guitar Studio showcase of student musicians will be followed by an all-ages Air Guitar Competition (winners garner some really super prizes!)
All events begin at 6:00 PM.
Giant Crab Drops are 9:00 PM and Midnight!
