Explorations in Clay Summer Teen Workshop

The Academy Art Museum is offering “Explorations in Clay” with instructor Loretta Lowman June 29 – July 3, from 9 am to 4 pm for rising 8th – 10th graders.
This class introduces teens to the fundamentals of ceramics through both wheel-throwing and handbuilding techniques. Students will learn essential skills such as centering clay, throwing basic forms on the wheel, and building with slabs and coils by hand. Emphasis is placed on experimentation, craftsmanship, and personal expression as students develop their own functional and sculptural pieces. Instruction includes glazing and surface decoration, with a focus on safe studio practices and creative problem-solving in a supportive studio environment. All materials provided. $400 for members, $450 for non-members.
