The Mid-Shore Constitution Alliance, Washington College, and Frederick Douglass Family Foundation will host a free Constitution Day celebration on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, from noon to 1:30 PM at the Academy Art Museum in Easton, Maryland. The event is called “Our Journey to Liberty and Freedom: 1776 – 1876 – Today” and will feature nationally recognized re-enactors portraying Frederick Douglass and Thomas Jefferson. The event will also include speakers and other activities for all ages.
Constitution Day commemorates the signing of the United States Constitution on September 17, 1787. All institutions that receive federal funding are required to hold an educational program related to the Constitution on September 17, or within the week before or after if the date falls on a weekend or holiday.
