
Young residents between the ages of 6 and 18 are challenged to read a biography of Talbot’s own Frederick Douglass and write what they learned on an entry form to turn into the library. Winners can receive exciting gift card prizes! The challenge runs June 1 – September 1 and an award reception will be held on Saturday, September 26th.
This reading challenge is sponsored by the Frederic Douglass Honor Society. Register in person at the Talbot County Free Library.

On Saturday, July 18, we’re celebrating the opening of our newest long-term exhibition, Stories from the Shoreline, with a day of outdoor activities and hands-on discovery across our waterfront campus.
Join us to explore Stories from the Shoreline, an immersive exhibition that amplifies the voices and experiences of people and communities connected to the unique Chesapeake Bay landscape. Through dozens of stories across generations, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of our region’s history, environment, and culture.
To add to the festivities, we’re proud to welcome a diverse group of storytellers and tradition bearers who will share their knowledge and experiences with our guests throughout the day. Guests of all ages can also enjoy hands-on activities inspired by the new exhibition. Come celebrate, learn, and connect with the stories that shape this special place!
