Suicidal crises can be temporary, but access to lethal means can turn a temporary crisis into a permanent outcome.
Join For All Seasons’ Lauren K. Weber, Chief Strategy Officer, and Lesa Mulcahy, Chief Clinical Officer, for an introduction to Counseling on Access to Lethal Means (CALM), an evidence-informed approach to reducing suicide risk by creating time, space, and safety when it matters most.
This FREE Lunch & Learn will explore why lethal means safety is an important part of suicide prevention and how compassionate, respectful conversations can help create meaningful layers of safety for someone experiencing a suicidal crisis. Participants will learn practical approaches for talking with individuals at risk about firearms, medications, and other lethal means while preserving dignity, autonomy, and personal choice.
During this session, you will:
– Gain a better understanding of CALM and the role of lethal means safety in suicide prevention
– Learn how to recognize opportunities for a CALM conversation with someone who may be at risk
– Explore practical, compassionate ways to talk about firearms, medications, and other lethal means
– Learn strategies for creating time and distance from lethal means during periods of crisis
– Build greater confidence in having these conversations while respecting dignity, autonomy, and personal choice
– Enjoy a free lunch while learning practical strategies that can help create an important layer of safety when someone is experiencing a suicidal crisis. Join For All Seasons for an inspiring evening with Dr. Annie Brewster as she explores the powerful role our personal stories can play in healing, resilience, connection, and hope.
Dr. Brewster is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, a practicing physician at Massachusetts General Hospital, founder of the Health Story Collaborative, and author of The Healing Power of Storytelling. Through her experiences as both a physician and a patient living with multiple sclerosis, she has seen firsthand how storytelling helps individuals and communities process illness, trauma, and loss.
During her keynote, “Reclaiming Our Stories, Reclaiming Ourselves,” Dr. Brewster will share how telling and listening to our stories can help us build deeper connections, strengthen resilience, and find hope and healing. Her presentation is part of For All Seasons’ 10th Annual No Matter What… You Matter Suicide Prevention Campaign in recognition of Suicide Prevention Month.

Join the Academy Art Museum for its 16th annual Juneteenth celebration on June 20th—a wonderful, daylong event celebrating the voices, history, and lived experiences of Easton’s historic Hill Community, one of the oldest free African American neighborhoods in the United States. This year’s program focuses on connection, featuring highlights like guided tours of the Hill led by local community members, a teen essay showcase in partnership with Shore Lit, fun hands-on art activities for children, a lecture by the inspiring artist Tawny Chatmon, and so much more.
Exciting summer reading for kids and teens starts on Saturday, June 6th, from 10 am – 2 pm at the Chesapeake Children’s Book Festival at the Talbot County Free Library, 100 W Dover St, in Easton, MD!

Peace of Mind is offering a May Parent Workgroup, titled “Emotional Regulation in Elementary Aged Children,” May, 20 at the Talbot Community Center.
This workshop will be co-led by Kirby Meredith, LCSW-C and Abby Marine, MSW. Kirby is a school-based therapist at Easton Elementary school and Abby provides supportive services to students at White Marsh Elementary School.

Talbot Family Network will launch the January installment of its Conversations on Race series with a new community partnership and an interactive program focused on language, power, and equity.
The event will take place on Monday, January 26, 2026, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Fello’s Port Street Commons, located at 480 Port Street in Easton. A light dinner and refreshments will be provided.
For January, Talbot Family Network is partnering with Shore Lit to present a 90-minute facilitated program centered on Critical Language Awareness and Linguistic Justice. The session will explore how language shapes perceptions, reinforces bias, and influences a sense of belonging, with an emphasis on listening, reflection, and dialogue.
The program is being designed and facilitated by Shore Lit Founder and Director Kerry Folan, who will incorporate audio storytelling and guided discussion to examine how oral prejudice and assumptions about language affect individuals and communities. The format is intended to encourage shared learning in an accessible, welcoming environment.
“Conversations on Race creates space for our community to engage with complex issues in thoughtful and meaningful ways,” said Nancy Andrew, executive director of Talbot Family Network. “This partnership with Shore Lit allows us to explore race through the lens of language, which is central to how we connect, include, and understand one another.”
“Our conversations about race often focus on visual signifiers and perceptions. But there are also relationships among race, language, and power,” said Folan. “This conversation draws on my training as a professor of writing and literature and invites people to reflect on their own experiences with language, considering the often invisible power structures inherent within and the impact of linguistic hierarchies on our perceptions of race.”

The Conversations on Race series is held monthly from September through May, typically on the last Monday of each month. Each session stands on its own while contributing to a broader community dialogue on race, equity, and inclusion. Partners for the 2025–26 series include Shore Lit, the Water’s Edge Museum, the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, and others.
Shore Lit is a nonprofit literary organization based on Maryland’s Eastern Shore that promotes reading, creative writing, and literary engagement across the region. Through free author talks, youth writing workshops, and literacy programs, Shore Lit amplifies diverse voices and creates experiences of joy and connection around storytelling. Its programs serve readers and writers across ages and backgrounds throughout the Mid-Shore, with more at www.shorelit.org.
