PETER HATCH, with 35 years’ experience as Director of Gardens and Grounds at Monticello, will tell the story of Thomas Jefferson’s vegetable garden, which was a virtual Ellis Island of unusual vegetable novelties from around the globe. Restored in 1984, the garden and Jefferson’s legacy continue to inspire the farm-to-table movement today. As professional gardener/historian, Hatch shares insights into Monticello and the history of garden plants, and regularly consults on the installation and maintenance of public gardens and private estate landscapes around the country.
