The St. Michaels Farmers Market (SMFM) is an independent, non-profit, producer-only farmers market in charming St. Michaels on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Started in 1998 as part of FreshFarm, we’ve grown to become our own community-run market with 20-plus vendors, dozens of volunteers, and hundreds of customers on Saturday mornings from spring through fall.
The core of our mission is to support local farmers and food producers while fostering a community-based food system. A leader in the local food movement, the St. Michaels Farmers Market promotes sustainable agriculture, provides farmers with vital economic opportunities, and improves fresh food access and equity in Talbot County, being a proud provider of SNAP benefits. We also aim to educate the public about the importance of knowing your farmer and eating #positivelylocal.
In addition to farmers and food growers, we also host live music, pop-up vendors, and educational demonstrations from local chefs, master gardeners, and more. The market takes place on Saturday mornings, 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., April through November. We hope to see you there.
